Review Policy

As a young adult writer and college education professional, I have more than 10 years of writing and editing experience. Additionally, I have a BA in communications from Farmingdale State College with a MA in English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University. I will make sure to present an honest and fair review of professional quality.

Payment must be made through Paypal. A deposit of half the sum is required prior to reviewing.

Here are my current rates:

I) Book Reviews:

I currently offer several packages for reviews. I will review both indie and traditional publishing, and I accept either a hard copy or ebook format (preferably for kindle: MOBI). Like most book reviews, I use a standard star rating system with 1 star being a “did not enjoy” and 5 stars meaning “I will buy this book for my mer-collection!”

Please note: a paid review does not guarantee a full five stars. My blog has always been honest with ratings and I intend to keep it that way! If I feel your novel is a 1-2 star rating, I will message you to let you know the novel will not get a good review. The initial deposit will not be refunded.

Standard package: $ 25.00 USD: includes book cover image, full review of literary elements, including characters, plot, theme, and setting, page count, genre listing, along with a full blurb.

Interview Package: $50.00 USD: Author interview with fully personalized, ten questions. Posting includes everything in standard package, plus author bio, including social media links for readers to follow you.

II) FAQ:

1) What book/movie genres do you review?

S: I review everything, from children’s books to adult romance. If it has a mermaid as the main character, I will review it!

2) What are your favorite mermaid books?

S: There are a lot of mermaid books that had an impact on me. Some of my favorites are:
           - Aquamarine by Alice Hoffman

-Seven Tears Into The Sea by Terri Farley

            -Sirena by Donna Jo Napoli

3) What are your favorite mermaid movies?

S: My top favorite will always be The Little Mermaid. My other favorites are:

            - Aquamarine

            - Splash

            -Miranda/ Mad About Men

            - Mr. Peabody and The Mermaid

            -Mermaids 2003

            - The Thirteenth Year

4) Do you read about other water creatures (sirens, selkies nymphs)?

S: Yes! I love selkies and sirens and consider them cousins to the mermaid. I am still building up a section for nymphs, so if you have a great nymph book, reach out to me!

5) Why charge for reviews?

S: Throughout the years, especially recently with the mermaid trend going on, I’ve been receiving multiple emails about reviewing a variety of mermaid books to services. Reviewing all of this takes time out of my writing and teaching career, so I need to find a way to balance it. I also created these prices so they are affordable for both indie and traditional authors.

6) Do you review books with violent themes?

S: That depends. Young adult books are starting to include more darker themes into their work. If the issue is mildly hinted at, that is fine, especially if you want to highlight a particular issue for awareness. But I will not read stories with graphic scenes that may disturb my readers.

Also, if your story has ANY amount of animal violence, racist themes, political themes, religious themes, or anti-LGBTQ+ themes, I will not review your book.

7) Please message me if you have any other questions!
