My Review:

Every teenage girl dreams of becoming a mermaid. Swimming with dolphins, exploring coral reefs, and freedom at the touch of salt water. Chleo, Rikki, and Emma wander into a strange moon pool on a forbidden island named Mako Island, allowing them to become mermaids with cool super powers. Chleo can manipulate water into shapes, Rikki can make liquids boil, and Emma creates ice.

My favorite character on this show is Rikki. She is rebellious, defiant, and chooses to follow her own path. Despite her short temper, Rikki also has a big heart, especially when her friends need a fin! Out of all the mermaids, Emma is my least favorite. She's pretty snotty and condescending, not to mention she seems to think she's the leader. Although they are supposed to be friends, Emma and Rikki constantly fight, and it's no wonder; they are so different from one another.

The underwater scenes are breathtaking, and the tails are crafted with exquisite detail. The viewer can see each scale, and the monofins aren't visible through the suit. Great special effects! However, the mermaids on this show swim extremely slow! A manatee could've swum past them.

Major changes occur in season 3, which detracts from the likability of the show. First, Emma is gone, and replaced by a new mermaid named Bella. The actor who played Emma, Claire Holt, left H2O to work on "The Vampire Diaries." Trading your fins for fangs? I'm not sure if that was a good choice! The last season also felt rushed, and there could've been more development in the plot.

Although the last season wasn't as great as the first two, the show is still enjoyable for all mermaids! With gorgeous tails, teenage romance, and drama throughout the

seasons, what more could you ask from a great mermaid TV show? I give this series (****) 4 stars.
