Happy Merlloween!

You may be wondering by my post title what I'm talking about. Merlloween? Is this a new trend?

Sadly, no! Not yet :) This post was made for those who like scary mermaids or new something aquatic on long scary nights. For Merlloween, here are some of my favorite movies, books, and costumes!

1) Television: Siren

2) Need a costume?

Every year when the weather finally brings some chilly nights (I live in Charleston! It's unbearable in the summer), I always look for that bright yellow sign with the reaper on it. Spirit Halloween is my favorite place to get Halloween costumes, decor, or cool gifts for you! Every year, the store puts on a display with a new theme. Last year, they had a limited amount of mermaid items, but after visiting the store, I found an entire section dedicated to mermaids and unicorns. Here are some of the items:

Another great place to check out is Party City. They had darker mermaid costumes and a beautiful Ursula costume, too! Click here!

She Creature:

She Creature takes place in the early 1900's and focuses on a young carnie couple looking to make money. When the find an elderly man who is keeping a mermaid in a tank, they steal her, hoping to make a fortune. But they don't realize how dangerous she is until it's too late.

I loved this movie because it has the perfect amount of gore, and the special effects for the mermaid's gruesome transformation were really cool! Check out more about She Creature here!

4) Sirens In The Pages:

If you're looking for a dark siren novel, check out Ripple by Mandy Hubbard or the Watersong Series by Amanda Hocking. Each one features sirens with a need to drown people, and they occasionally like to snack on hearts! You can find out more about the novels on this page.

From seductive sirens to flesh-eating monsters, mermaids prove they are just as scary as other Halloween creatures! What's your favorite dark mermaid story? Comment below!
