A Mermaid In Paris Movie Review

Rating: Not Rated (I would rate this PG-13, has similar concepts to Splash)

Run Time: 1h 42min

Summary(Google)

A hopeless romantic finds his life in danger when he falls in love with a beautiful mermaid.

My Review:

It's been a long time since I've reviewed a mermaid movie, and I absolutely adored this film!

Characters:

I really loved following Gaspard along his journey from depressed singer to mermaid rescuer! He is a relatable character who loves his pet cat, but also has fantasy interests as seen with his collectibles and pop-up book given to him by his grandmother, a famous singer. When he meets Lula, our gorgeous mermaid, I also appreciated that he didn't treat her like a dangerous creature. He noticed she was hurt and tried to help right away.

The Mermaid

And Lula...what a beautiful mermaid! Combine the blonde innocence of Aquamarine with the seductive lure of Splash, and she is the result! The tail details are exquisite! Lula is a siren, so she enchants sailors and other men to drown. However, there is something about Gaspard that cannot be enchanted, which piques her curiosity.

The Plot

The major twist to this story is that Lula can only survive on land for two sunrises. If she doesn't return to the sea by that time, she'll die. This becomes a problem as Gaspard and Lula start to fall in love.

This was a beautiful movie with both funny and tragic moments. I don't want to give too much away, but this is a mermaid movie up there with Splash, Aquamarine, and TLM!

I give this movie 5 stars.
